This is a pair of original Lucas J700 headlamps, as supplied to Jaguar 2.4 and 3.4 Mark I cars (not US market) as well as early Mark 2s, 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8. With flat glass lenses (similar to the J lamps fitted to XK140, XK150 and bag Jaguar saloons of the 1950s), these lamps have a very distinctive look. US-market cars were fitted with federally-mandated sealed beam headlights instead, which were installed by the dealers, since there was no source for sealed beams in the UK in those days. Many owners in the US fit these lamps in place of those cheap US-sourced sealed beams. They have early Lucas large-aperture bulbholders and BPF bulbs, which are available from us or from major British parts suppliers such as Moss Motors and SNG Barratt. The wires will have to spliced in to your existing headlamp wiring pigtails. The lamps themselves are a direct fit to any classic Jaguar with twin 7-inch headlamps.
This pair is in good original condition, fine for use as-is. They are not concours perfect, but the reflectors and glass are very good. They are in working condition.
These are for right hand drive cars, which means the low beam dips to the left. No big deal, as they won't blind any oncoming drivers, especially these days when cars have ultra-bright lights (you have noticed this, right?) and your electrical system is powered by a 25-amp Lucas generator. No offense intended; we have the same system on our old British cars, and it works okay but doesn't blind anybody.
