This is a pair of excellent original Lucas Square Eight fog lamps. They are genuine Lucas, made in the late 1960s. They are in superb original condition, with very minor scuffing on the chrome, no dents on the housings. The glass lenses (marked ENGLAND) and reflectors are excellent and the wiring pigtails are intact and in good condition. They come with excellent original plastic Lucas-marked covers. This pair is 100 percent correct for a Shelby or California Special Mustang, with small black wiring grommets and ENGLAND on the glass, unlike the far more common later type Square 8s, which had a much larger grey grommet and glass marked MADE IN ENGLAND or FOREIGN GLASS. We rank the condition of these lamps as 8.5 out of 10.
If you want absolute perfection, we also have a pair of NOS lamps exactly Iike these, with all the correct Shelby details, and still in their original boxes, truly perfect condition, which can be found in the Related Products tab.
They are NOT TO BE COMPARED with any new Lucas Square 8 lamps manufactured today. The bodies are chrome-plated brass, whereas all new Lucas fog and driving lamps have steel bodies. The lenses have all the correct Lucas lettering, while new ones do not, and the bodies are properly stamped LUCAS FT/LR8 MADE IN ENGLAND, but again, new lamps do not have these features. There are other differences, but we don't want to go on and on. These lamps are original, and correct.
We also have a great many reproduction and used Lucas Square 8 lamps, originals as well as other NOS units, priced in accordance with their condition and rarity.
