This is a wonderful invention for owners of Jaguar cars from the 1960s and early 1970s! It is a mechanical oil pressure gauge kit to replace the unreliable electric gauges that Jaguar used during those years. The original type electric gauges often suffered from false readings and the sending units are expensive. We installed one of these kits on our Mark 2 some years ago, and have been delighted with the reliablility of the gauge, and secure in the knowledge that the pressure indicated on the dial is accurate. This is a brand new SMITHS gauge, made in England at the SMITHS Caerbont factory. It comes complete with mechanical line and fitting kit.
The only criticism we can find of this kit is that it has a 0-100 psi scale, not the 0-60 scale fitted to most Jaguars (the exception being Mark 2s from 1959 and 1960, which had a 0-100 scale). Otherwise, the gauge is identical in appearance to the other gauges of an E-type, S-type, Mark 2, MK X, 420 or Daimler 2 1/2.
