Barn Find cars are exciting. This one has been in a dry, tight barn for about 20 years. It is a 1966 Jaguar 3.8S sedan in rare Opalescent Golden Sand with black leather. It appears to have been restored 30 years ago or so, with all the rusty bits cut out and new parts welded in as needed. The car is still very, very solid and straight with good shut lines. I believe the paint will even shine up, nice enough to make a driver out of this car. The engine turns by hand, although it has not been started in many years. The original black leather needs cleaning and treating, but it's not bad and we think it could be saved with some sensitive repair. The interior woodwork is beautiful and still has its original varnish, with a great patina of age. The veneer is good. Carpets are original Wilton wool. It has chrome wire wheels, shod with very old and cracked Dunlop tires.
This car has the larger, 3.8 litre DOHC six cylinder engine, which develops 220 bhp. This one is mated to a Borg Warner automatic transmission. We can supply parts to convert it to a 4-speed manual with overdrive if the buyer is interested.
The car is complete and comes with clear title. We can help you load it onto your trailer or flatbed. It has not been started in many years, or even moved from the spot where it now sits, so you cannot drive this car home.
We are helping the widow of the owner sell this lovely old Jag. We drive a '63 3.8 ourselves and understand old Jaguars very well, as old British cars are our business, so please feel free to ask if you have any questions and we will be happy to answer.
