Most older British cars did not come equipped with headlamp relays. The advantage of a relay is that much more current gets to the lamps, meaning much brighter lighting, as well as a greatly reduced current draw through the lighting switch, so the switch will last a lot longer. We strongly recommend this kit for any British car built before about 1980. We have a very limited supply of these new old stock Lucas 2-position ignition switches (off and on). These switches are the type used on most Jaguars of the 1960s, including E-types with the switch on the dash, Mark 2, 3.4S, 3.8S, 420, Mark X, 420G, Daimler 2 1/2 and 250 saloon, as well as many other British cars of the time. These are perfect, NOS (new old stock) Lucas RER25 reflectors, made in England, for Morris Minor, Austin-Healey, Land-Rover, or any classic British or other European car which needs a bit of nighttime reflectivity in the back.
